Lisa Fabian is a music educator with 33 years of experience in the Tampa Bay area who began teaching piano at the age of 17. She attended the prestigious New Orleans Center for Creative Arts High School Conservatory where she studied music theory and performance under Bert Braud and Ellis Marsalis. She studied music and psychology at Loyola University of New Orleans and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987. She also has a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology and utilized music in her work as a psychotherapist.
She has resided in Tampa, Florida since 1991 where she has performed in a variety of venues including “One Enchanted Evening” VIP reception and a benefit for Berkeley Preparatory School. Lisa served as an accompanist for Encore Theatre in 1999 working with Greta Aldene and has accompanied instrumentalists at district contest festivals. She has also had the privilege of serving as an adjudicator for the Bayridge District Festival for several years. An active member of Music Teachers National Association since 1998, Lisa is a pianist and composer who also maintains a private studio. She has taught individual and group piano in a variety of settings including private and public schools as well as homeschool groups. Since 2020, Lisa has also taught online lessons. She has been hired to play the piano for many occasions including weddings, private parties and company parties.
Lisa has a goal to instill the love of music in all of her students through an individualized student-centered approach. She specializes in teaching classical and popular repertoire as well as improvisation. Her teaching philosophy can best be described as one that incorporates a creative and customized method of positive instruction personalized to fit the individual student’s needs. Lisa’s powerful blend of flexibility, maturity, educational assessment and high energy contributes significantly to the success of her students. Her passion for teaching is reflected in the development of students’ skills leading to the mastery of musical goals.
