David Berry, Teacher: Piano, Jazz Piano, Theory, Composition Lessons

David Berry is an accomplished pianist, composer, and educator. He holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Piano Performance from Arizona State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Piano Performance from Washington State University. With extensive teaching experience at institutions such as Arizona State University School of Music and Paradise Valley Community College, he has instructed students of all ages in jazz and classical piano, as well as composition and arranging. He also has experience as a music educator at both high school and elementary school settings. As a versatile musician, David has performed with various ensembles and has notable experience as a composer, arranger, and recording artist. He earned first place in the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival young artist competition and served as an accompanist for the North American Saxophone Alliance competition’s jazz division. A highlight of his career was performing at The Nash Jazz Club in Phoenix, Arizona, presenting a duet arrangement of “Day Dream” alongside celebrated trumpeter and director of the Sarasota Jazz Festival, Terrell Stafford. Engaged in ongoing professional development, he holds certifications in music education and was recently invited as a composer in residence for the Ravinia Steans Music Institute in Highland Park, Illinois. He aims to cultivate a love for music in each of his students, integrating elements of improvisation, transcription, and composition into their studies.
