Homeschool Concert Band & Orchestra Classes

The homeschool band and orchestra classes are designed for home school students who do not have the opportunity to be in a traditional school band program.  

Please contact us to enroll BEFORE AUGUST 22 to receive a $15 discount off your student registration fee.

* We will try to be as accommodating with class options as is possible.  If you are interested in participating in a band or orchestra class but would prefer a different day of the week than what is listed below, please contact us to let us know.  We cannot necessarily guarantee that we will be able to adjust for every request, but we will make every effort to make the class times accessible for as many as possible.

Current Class Options:

1) Beginning Elementary Band Class, 4th-6th Grade:

– For students who are brand new beginners or have had less than two years of instruction.
– Once a week / One hour class
– Instruments Included: Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Percussion.  Below is a video that demonstrates each of these instruments.
– Contact us for advice on choosing the right instrument.
– Beginner students do not need to already know how to play an instrument or be enrolled in private lessons.  They will learn to play their instruments in this class.
– Minimum of 5 enrolled students required for class to take place.

Wednesday, 2:00pm – 2014 Season begins September 3, 2014!

Friday, 2:00pm – 2014 Season begins August 29, 2014!

2) Intermediate/Advanced Band Class, 6th-12th Grade:

– For students who have more than two years of instruction experience.
– Once a week / One hour class
– Minimum of 5 enrolled students required for class to take place.
– Instruments Included: Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Percussion.
– Please contact us for information on the 2014-2015 class schedule.

3) Intermediate/Advanced String Orchestra Class,
6th-12th Grade:

– For students who have more than two years of instruction experience.
– Once a week / One hour class
– Minimum of 5 enrolled students required for class to take place.
– Instruments Included: Violin, Viola, Cello

Tuition Cost / Discounts:

First Child – $400 Annual Fee
(can be paid in two separate payments in August and January)

Second Child – $350 Annual Fee ($750 for both)
(can be paid in two separate payments in August and January)

Each additional Child – $300 Annual Fee/each
(can be paid in two separate payments in August and January)

TBMA Private Lesson Student Discount – $300 Annual Fee/each
(available to any student who has been enrolled in TBMA private lessons for three or more consecutive months prior to registering for the band class / can be paid in two separate payments in August and January)

Additional Fees:
There is a one time $25 enrollment/sheet music fee per enrolled student due at the time of registration.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1) Who can participate?
Band classes are available for 4th grade – 12th grade homeschool students.

2) Who will be conducting?
The band classes will be conducted by John Tracy.

3) What do you mean by “beginner?”
By “beginner” we mean brand new, either having never played an instrument before, or still in the first two years of instruction. If the student has received more than two years of instructions they will be placed in the intermediate/advanced band class.

4) Will there be concerts?
Yes, performance opportunities will be announced at the beginning of each semester.

5) How long does the band/strings class last?
1st Semester begins in mid-August and ends in Early December.  2nd Semester begins in late January and ends in mid-May.  Specific dates will be announced prior to the start of the band school year.

6) What instrument should I choose to play?
Certain body types and ages are more conducive to success on particular instruments.  If you are unsure of which instrument to select, please call us to discuss and we would be happy to assist you in making a decision.

7) Where do I get an instrument?

You will need to rent or purchase an instrument.  There are three local music stores that are recommended:
